How to add border
- Add your imagesThe border scales with each image, so a batch of different sizes still looks consistent.
- Choose a styleEven puts the same width on all four sides. Polaroid leaves a deep band at the bottom, the way an instant print does.
- Set width and colourWidth is a percentage of the shorter edge, so it looks the same at any resolution.
- DownloadThe new dimensions include the border, since the frame is added around the picture rather than cropped into it.
When you need it
Fitting a photo into a square post
A border pads a landscape or portrait photo out to the shape a feed wants, without cropping anything away.
Separating an image from a white page
A light photo on a white background has no edge. A grey or dark border gives it one.
Making a print look like a print
The polaroid style leaves room to write a caption underneath.
Questions
Does the border crop my photo?
No. The canvas grows and the picture sits inside it, so nothing is cut. The output is larger than the input by exactly the border width.
What is the polaroid style for?
It mimics an instant print: even borders on three sides and a deep band along the bottom. The extra space is there to be written on, or simply to look like a physical photograph.
Why is the width a percentage rather than pixels?
So that one setting works everywhere. A 40-pixel border is bold on a phone snapshot and nearly invisible on a 6000-pixel export. A percentage of the shorter edge stays proportional whatever you feed it.
Can I get a transparent border?
Not currently — the output is a JPG, which has no transparency. For a transparent frame you would want a PNG, which is on the list.
What colour should I use?
White is the classic and works with almost anything. Black suits dark or dramatic photos. A mid-grey is the safest choice when the image will sit on an unknown background.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
