How to beautify screenshot
- Drop in a screenshotAnything works — a whole window, a cropped region, a phone capture.
- Pick a backdropSix gradients, including the yellow this site uses. Grey is the restrained choice if the screenshot itself is colourful.
- Adjust padding and cornersPadding is the space around the image; corners round its edges. Both scale with the image, so one setting works at any resolution.
- DownloadYou get a PNG, which keeps the gradient smooth and the edges clean.
When you need it
Posting a product or feature on social media
A bare screenshot looks like a bug report. The same image on a backdrop reads as something deliberate.
Writing documentation or a blog post
Padding and rounded corners separate the screenshot from the page around it.
Putting UI in a slide deck
A raw screenshot on a white slide has no edges. A backdrop gives it a shape.
Questions
Why does my screenshot come out as a PNG rather than a JPG?
Because gradients and sharp text are exactly what JPG handles worst. JPG would put visible banding across the smooth backdrop and fuzz around the letters in the screenshot. PNG keeps both clean, and screenshots compress well as PNG anyway.
How much padding should I use?
Around 8% suits most things. Go higher for a more spacious, marketing look; lower when the screenshot has fine detail you do not want shrinking in the frame.
Will the text in my screenshot stay readable?
Yes. The screenshot is placed at its original size — nothing is scaled down — and the canvas grows around it, so every pixel of the original is preserved.
Can I use my own background colour?
Not yet; the six gradients are fixed. If you need an exact brand colour, use the plain grey option and change it afterwards in an editor.
Does it work with phone screenshots?
Yes, and tall screenshots keep their proportions. The padding adapts to the shorter edge, so a portrait capture does not end up with an unbalanced frame.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
