When you need it

Questions
Should I choose Fill the frame or Fit inside?
Fill the frame for photographs — it crops from the edges so the frame is completely covered, which is what a post should look like. Fit inside when nothing can be lost, like a graphic with text near the edges, but expect bars in the empty space.
What colour should the bars be?
White if the image will sit on a white background, black for dark backgrounds or video thumbnails. A colour pulled from the image itself blends best — colour palette will give you one.
Why are these sizes and not others?
They are the dimensions each platform actually renders at. Uploading exactly that means no resizing and no surprise crop on their end.
What if my image is smaller than the target size?
It is scaled up to fill the frame. Starting from something at or above the target gives the crispest result, so use the largest version you have.
Do these sizes change?
Platforms adjust them occasionally. These are the current standards and they have been stable for a while, but it is worth a check if something looks off after an upload.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
