Why write the size on the image?
So you can see at a glance which slot is which when a page is full of them, and spot immediately if something is being stretched.
What colours should I use?
Plain grey. A placeholder should look unmistakably temporary — using brand colours leads to them shipping by accident.
Can I put my own text on it?
Yes, type whatever you like instead of the dimensions.
Is there a size limit?
Very large canvases use a lot of memory, so keep it under about 5000 pixels a side.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
