How to watermark image

Questions
What opacity should I use?
Between 40 and 60 for most things. Below 30 it is easy to crop or clone out. Above 70 it starts to take over the picture. If the mark is only there for credit rather than protection, sit at the lower end.
Corner or tiled?
A corner mark is polite and stays out of the way, but a corner is also the easiest thing in the world to crop off. Tiled is deliberately intrusive: it covers the whole frame, so removing it means removing the image. Use corners for credit and tiles for protection.
Why does my logo look like it has a white box around it?
Because it is a JPG. JPG cannot store transparency, so the background comes through as solid white. Save the logo as a PNG with a transparent background and it will sit cleanly on the photo.
How do I put the mark somewhere specific?
Drag it on the preview and it moves there straight away, switching the position menu to your own placement. The spot is stored as a fraction of the image rather than in pixels, so across a batch it lands in the same relative place on every file whatever size each one is.
Can I change the font or tilt the mark?
Yes — five fonts, from a clean bold sans to a handwritten face, and an angle slider that tilts the mark either way. A tilted mark across the middle of a photo is considerably harder to crop off than a straight one in a corner.
Does the size setting mean pixels?
No, it is a percentage of the image's shorter edge. That way one setting looks the same on a phone snapshot and on a 6000-pixel export, instead of vanishing on one and swamping the other.
Can I watermark a whole folder at once?
Yes. Drop them all in and every image gets the same mark in the same relative position and size.
Can this remove a watermark?
No, and it is not something we will build. Watermarks are how people protect work they own.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
