How to blur or pixelate an area

Questions
Can the blur be reversed?
No. The pixels underneath are replaced, not hidden — the original detail is gone from the saved file. This matters: covering something with a shape in an editor sometimes leaves the data recoverable, and this does not.
Should I use blur or pixelation?
Pixelation makes it obvious something was deliberately hidden, which is often what you want. A strong blur looks more natural. Either works as long as the setting is high enough — a light blur on a small face can sometimes still be made out.
Does it detect faces automatically?
No, you draw the areas yourself. That is deliberate: automatic detection misses faces at angles and in shadow, and missing one is exactly the failure that matters here.
Is the photo uploaded to be processed?
No, and that would defeat the purpose. Everything happens in your browser.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
