Questions
Which symbology should I choose?
CODE128 unless something specific is required — it takes letters, digits and punctuation, and packs them tightly. EAN-13 and UPC-A only exist for retail products and demand exactly 13 and 12 digits, because the last one is a check digit calculated from the rest. CODE39 is older and less compact but very forgiving of poor printing.
It says my number is invalid. Why?
Each symbology has strict rules and the message says which one you broke. EAN-13 needs exactly 13 digits, UPC-A exactly 12, ITF-14 exactly 14. CODE39 accepts only capital letters, digits and a handful of symbols.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
SVG for anything printed. A barcode is read by measuring bar widths, so blurring the edges is what makes a scan fail — SVG stays exact at any size. PNG is fine on screen.
How big should a printed barcode be?
Bigger than feels necessary. Bar width 3 or 4 at a height of at least 100 px prints reliably on a normal printer. Leave clear white space either side; scanners need it to find where the code begins.
Can I make a barcode for a product I want to sell in shops?
You can make the image, but the number itself has to be bought from GS1, the body that issues them. A made-up number will scan and then mean nothing, or worse, mean somebody else's product.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The barcode is drawn in your browser and nothing is transmitted.

How it works
Every tool here runs on the HTML Canvas API inside your own browser. When you drop a file, it is read straight into memory, changed there, and handed back as a download. Not one byte goes over the network — which is why there is no upload wait, no file size cap, and no way for anyone, including us, to see your images.
That also means the tools keep working with no connection once the page has loaded, and the only limit on file size is your device's memory.
